Camp Activity: Popsicle Stick S'mores
Marshmallows, chocolate and grahams…oh yum! Yeah, we’ve got a sweet tooth and we can’t stop thinking about how to incorporate our favorite fireside treat into, well, everything. If the kids in your life feel the same way, gather together around the fire pit for an easy arts and crafts project.
You’ll need:
Jumbo Popsicle sticks (like the kind inside ice cream bars)
Acrylic paint in white, black and pink
Brown marker
Paintbrushes
Light brown cardstock or construction paper
Dark brown cardstock or construction paper
Googly eyes (optional)
Glue
Scissors
Paper plate (to use as a paint palette)
How-to
Glue Popsicle sticks together to form the base of the s’more. Start by lining up seven together horizontally, side by side, and support the back by gluing two sticks vertically along the edges. Allow to dry completely.
Once dry, use white acrylic paint to paint the front of the Popsicle stick formation and allow to dry.
In the meantime, cut out graham crackers pieces (2 pieces of light brown cardstock) and a piece of chocolate (a smaller piece of dark brown cardstock).
Glue the light brown pieces to the top and bottom of the Popsicle stick formation, and if desired, add dot details with a brown marker to make the “cracker” pieces look more realistic.
Glue the dark brown piece of cardstock directly above the bottom piece of light brown cardstock.
Once everything has dried, paint a face onto the white “marshmallow” portion of the s’more using black and pink acrylic paint. Add googly eyes, if using.
Allow to fully dry before showing off your art #bythefire.
