Make Your Own Comfy Outdoor Pillow
Get cozy around the fire pit with this super easy, budget-friendly, do-it-yourself pillow. No sewing machine or crafting experience required.
Materials needed:
- 28x28 Euro pillow insert
- Liquid repellant
- 6 ft x 9 ft dropcloth
- Fabric glue
- Iron-on hem tape
- Scissors
- Pins
- Ruler
Instructions:
Spray your 28x28 pillow insert with a liquid repellant. Give it plenty of time to dry.
Measure and cut two 30x30 pieces of dropcloth. The extra two inches will allow you to be able to hem the pillowcase with the iron-on hem tape later.
Glue the two pieces of dropcloth together on three sides, leaving two inches of space at the hem. If you like, pin the pieces of fabric together to hold them in place while the glue dries. It will take about eight hours or overnight. Remember to keep one side open—this is very important! It’s where you will insert the pillow.
Give the glue plenty of time to dry. Once it’s dry, carefully remove the pins and turn the pillow case inside out.
Insert the waterproofed pillow into the pillow case.
Close up on the open hem with fabric glue, and then fold it over and hold in place with hem tape.
All done! Now reward yourself by kicking back by the fit pit and enjoy your cozy new patio accessory that you created.
