FESTIVE STOVETOP POPOURRI

Mmm, something smells delicious!

Of the five senses, the sense of smell is the most connected to memory. And what better way to bask in nostalgia than to fill your home with cozy scent of an apple pie baking in the oven?

This simmering stovetop potpourri is a cinch to make and will send you on a trip down memory lane while you relax fireside with a cup of hot cocoa and your favorite holiday music on repeat.

You’ll need:
Half a lemon, cut into thin slices
Half an apple, sliced
4 cinnamon sticks, or 1/2 a teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons cloves
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Cover all ingredients with water in a small saucepan, and simmer on the lowest setting. Let it simmer as long as you like, adding more water as needed.

Safety tip: Be sure to keep an eye on your stovetop potpourri and remove from the heat when you’re done enjoying the scent.
