Time Well Spent: Bullet Journaling
Motivation…activated! The start of spring puts us in the mood to tidy up everything from our living space to our workout schedules. Yeah, there may be apps for that, but where’s the fun in that?
It’s time to try bullet journaling, an all in one method of organization that allows the user to put everything from to-do lists and reminders to schedules and calendars all in one handy-dandy notebook. Our favorite part? There’s no wrong way to do it!
According to Good Housekeeping, it’s “equal parts day planner, diary and written meditation,” and can serve not only as a great way to get your obligations in gear, but to do so with mindfulness and intention. Here are some pointers:
- Choose your notebook. Pick something with a pattern or color that speaks to you, of course, but also take your personal organizational style into account. Are you more of a writing person? Go for a ruled notebook. Like to freehand it and draw to your heart’s content? Pick a blank slate. Do you think like an engineer? There are plenty of gorgeous graph-paper options available too.
- Think outside the (ballpoint pen) box. The right writing tools can make or break the bullet journaling process. Investing in a set of colorful fine-tip markers or a high-quality ink pen can help boost your enthusiasm and encourage you to take the time each day to write, draw and decompress.
- Get cozy while you get organized! When you place your order for those spring cleaning supplies, don’t forget to add some firelogs to your cart, too. Put on something comfy, light a fire and settle in with your bullet journaling supplies and a plan.
- Put pen to paper! There’s a lot of great bullet journal inspiration out there, like AmandaRachLee’s YouTube channel. She’s full of ideas and easy instructions that prove anyone’s an artist!
