DIY with Duraflame: Friendship Bracelets
Make them, stack them, show them off! For a heartwarming hit of summery nostalgia, nothing takes us back to fun days spent at camp like friendship bracelets. They’re easy to make, super customizable and even more fun to give away than they are to keep (but trust us—you’ll want to make enough for yourself, too!).
Feelin’ crafty? Here are some tips and tricks that’ll make your fireside jewelry-making session even more enjoyable.
-Get inspired! Throwback jewelry is all the rage right now, and friendship bracelets are showing up everywhere from the local mall to high-end designer boutiques. There’s certainly no shortage of inspo out there, so head to Pinterest and start browsing! Make a board where you can save all your ideas. Bonus tip: there’s plenty of how-to’s available on Pinterest as well!
-Shop for your beads and string. Colorful? Neutral? Funky? Glam? Whatever your personal style, there are easily accessible materials available at every price point. We recommend getting started with an all-in-one kit that includes a variety of bead shapes and sizes so you can experiment. If you fall in love with jewelry making and want to get even more serious about the hobby, craft stores carry higher-end materials—including real semi-precious stones and metals.
-Have a plan. Organize your materials before you get started, and make sure you have enough beads or string for the design you’re making.
-Get cozy. Craft night’s a special occasion, so make sure to have plenty of snacks on hand—as well as your favorite Duraflame firelogs to up the ambiance. Make things easier by buying them online and picking them up in store when you’re out shopping for beads. Want to really heat things up? How about a cocktail or mocktail? Here are some of our faves.
-Don’t lose it! Tape one end of the string to a tabletop to make stringing beads easier and so they won’t fall off and roll away.
-Share ‘em—and show us what you’ve got! Half the fun of friendship bracelets is surprising someone special with your handmade gift. But before you give it away, snap a pic of your creation and tag us on social media for a chance to be featured!
